Who are We?
When COVID-19 brought our high school career to a sudden halt, many new JHU students embraced their
favorite videogame and childhood memories - Minecraft. This simple yet fascinating sandbox game is
like digital LEGO: one can build virtually anything, from skyscrapers to automatic farms to
custom-coded game extensions.
Several friends and I from JHU c/o 2024 were meeting new friends on a multi-player
Minecraft server.
From its growing popularity, we saw the game's incredible power to
connect and unite people, especially under the distress of a pandemic. In the summer of 2020, we
started HopMC, the official JHU student group for Minecraft.
